Bishop Okoye Spiritan Secondary School was thrown into a jubilant mood on Saturday 21st of July, 2018 as the school came third in the just concluded 2018 Nigeria Spelling Bee Contest held at Landmark University, Kwara state. The promising lads Anyaso Ogochukwu, Obaro Efe Oghene and Ifeanyi-Obi Adaeze put up a big fight at the regional level giving them a chance to participate at the national level . Whereas Anyaso Ogochukwu will proceed to Mombasa Kenya for the Africa International championship later in November this year, having secured qualification for the contest, the duo of Ifeanyi Obi Adaeze and Obaro Efe Oghene expressed appreciation to God Almighty and the management for the opportunity accorded them to partake in the championship. While reacting separately on the feat achieved, the principal Rev. Fr. Christopher Amaubosi C.S.Sp and the Vice principal of the school, Rev. Dr. Obiefuna J. Onwughalu C.S.Sp said they were happy to receive the news of the exploit made by the students. They enjoined other students to emulate the students who have demonstrated proven excellence and intellectual prowess, the virtue which the principal said were part of what BOSSS has been known for. Also commenting on the successful outing, the teachers Mr Efosa Aigbe, Mrs Anastasia Obiora and the entire staff of the department of English, who prepared the students for the Spelling Bee contest, thanked God for crowning their effort with success and pledged their unwavering commitment to the BOSSS project. You may recall that BOSSS had won Rotary spelling Bee before now and this is, but a consolidation on the past records.
